Ski touring
Hemsedal is one of Norway’s most popular ski touring destinations. Snow-reliable winters and easily accessible peaks make it a good place to start and a hard place to stop.
New to touring? Totten (1,494 m) and Slettind (1,592 m) are gentle climbs of around three hours. With more experience you can head for Skogshorn (1,728 m), a Hemsedal classic, or Høgeloft (1,920 m), the highest peak in the valley.
Rent touring skis, skins and avalanche gear in the village. Prefer company? Local guides like Hemsedal Fjellsport and Hemsedal Mountain Guides know the terrain and the conditions. Always check the avalanche forecast on varsom.no before you go. Want to build your skills first? See Avalanche courses.
